Jolly Gingerbread Shop!

Alejandro, Dereck, Breyton, Mona

Students worked so hard throughout the month of December to earn pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters by demonstrating good character! They saved their money to purchase toppings for their cut-out cookie!
Students received a shopping list of toppings.  They were expected to count up all of their money to see how much they had to go shopping   with at the Jolly Gingerbread Shop.

Dereck's cookie turned out adorable and he was excited to eat it!

Maram had a lot of toppings to design with, so many that she even put a border around the plate!

The Polar Express Train Ride in Arcade/Attica

Students were so excited to board the train, especially after the long bus ride! Students posed for a quick photo at the train station!
We took the train through rural areas where students got to see horses, cows, geese, and attributes of rural areas! Students ate their lunches and hung out with friends on the historic train!  Half way through the train ride, the students got to get off for more fun!

Students got to to travel through Santa's workshop in the "North Pole."  For students that do not celebrate Christmas, our classroom held festivities for and learned about holidays around the world: Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Eid, and Winter Solstice.
The students were full of anticipation to get up to Santa!

Our Fall Harvest!

Karol, Abdullah, and Romelle

Students got to to carve a pumpkin! Every student came up and scooped out some of the pumpkin guts. While doing so, they used their five senses to describe what they smelled, felt, heard, and saw! They filled in their observations on a graphic organizer!

Students got to participate in the planning process for a pumpkin face.  They chose triangles for the eyes and nose and missing teeth for the mouth.  Ms. Huber did her best to execute the design!  Students were so excited to see the final product!

Alejandro and Ms. Huber
Students listened as Ms. Huber read aloud a story called "Bony Ben" in which she wrote herself!  Throughout the story, students got to to stick their hand  into brown paper bags to feel the parts of the story.  They got to feel Bony Ben's eyes, teeth, hair, nails, blood, etc.  After the story, students got to guess what foods acted as the body parts!  The laughter and smiles were contagious in the cafeteria.
